Alaska Volcanoes photo gallery
Alaska's southern shores are part of the northern border of the Pacific Rim of fire. It's a highly active geological region, with many volcanoes erupting often, both in the historical and recent past. More specifically, Mt Redoubt, Mt Illiamna and Mt Augustine have had eruptions visible to the inhabitants of southcentral Alaska. Below are images of both dormant and active volcanoes from this Pacific Rim region.
