Alaska is a unique place in that its geographical location provides a prime habitat for many migratory birds that choose its food-rich and light-filled summer landscape to raise their young. Many travel great distances to capatilize on this perfect environment of wetlands, tundra and coastal shores. Owls, swans, waterfowl, cranes, songbirds, shorebirds, and many more arrive in spring and after a summer of sunlight and successful parenting, head south for warmer weather in the autumn.
