Steller's sea lions photo gallery
Steller's sea lions, named after the famous naturalist, George Steller, inhabit much of the southern coastline of Alaska. They are social animals, congregating in groups at various beach or rock "haul out" locations. The population of sea lions in western Alaska have been in decline, and this remains a mystery to scientists, trying to determine the cause. Most of the images here were taken in Prince William Sound.
