The Richardson Highway runs 368 miles connecting the coastal town of Valdez to Fairbanks. It follows a historic pack trail from the late 1890s, which eventually became a wagon trail, and finally a highway. There are several historic roadhouses along the road, which slices through the Alaska Range mountains at Isabel Pass.
